What??? More oxygen??? Dec. 6

Using the power of the sun to boil their water.

Another bluebird sky day but still a little chilly!  On our way to Dingboche (4410m/14,468') we passed a climber's memorial paying tribute to all the climbers who lost their lives on the mountain.

Memorials on the ridge.

We also acquired a few furry friends that I enjoyed more than John. Of course I am a sucker for fine furry friends with paws! I miss my Walter and Winston.
We named him Cholatse.

Stupa above Dingboche
As we approached Dingboche we left the Khumbu valley and entered the Chhukung valley punctuated with many glaciers on all sides! Most of the hike to Dingboche was down hill and now we had to pay the piper and start climbing our 320 m/1049' to the village of Chhukung (4730m/15,518').

We will be sleeping much lower than we have been sleeping lately. Chhukung is surrounded by dramatic peaks including Lhotse, Ama  Dablam, and a fluted ridge off of Ombigaichan.
Fluted ridge and the Chhukung glacier.
Our sunset was heart warming despite the cold temperatures!
